The Security Group is almost never seen outside of their darkened basement or the witness stand. We deal with digital rights protection and law enforcement online, and have fingers in most aspects of Internet crime. Hopefully, you'll never meet us or see our work up close, but we still take pride in what we do.
Many people take what we do as oppressive, imposing the rules of Corporate Power on poor innocent
members of the public going about their private lives. If that was what we did, we'd agree. The truth
is of course the actions of many are far from innocent, and directly affect the lives of others.
Record companies, celebrities and movie studios lose a few percent profit due to sharing and trading
of their products and images, but even we don't think that the end of the world. It doesn't stop
there - songwriters, film crew, studio engineers and office juniors all lose money as projects are
downsized or cancelled. The public, even those who cause the problem, pay more for their blank media,
MP3 downloads or cable subscriptions as the lost revenue is pushed down to the customers.
